Horse or tractor ride || gentle hike || waterfalls || fumaroles
volcano activity || mud baths || hot springs || natural sauna

Known as the 'Yellowstone of Costa Rica', Miravalles Volcano is a natural wonder boasting steam-spewing fishers, sulfur springs and bubbling mud pools.

After a scenic drive there through rolling hills, we will horseride, or if your prefer take an exciting short tractor ride, to the hanging bridges and embark on an easy hike through the rainforest to reach two waterfalls, followed by a visit to the steaming fumaroles and the beauty of the crystal formations in this area   Native animals and birds offer beautiful scenes and photo opportunities.

Although a dormant volcano, Miravalles has earned protected status due to its surroundingtropical vegetation and geological activity.  It is also the highest peak in the Guanacaste Mountains (Cordillera de Guanacaste).  An underground reservoir is the site of a geothermal energy plant at Las Hornillas that converts steam to electricity.  We will visit Las Hornillas to appreciate the different volcanic activities that happen here.

We will then treat ourselves to a unique experience in the thermal hotsprings with warm mud, cleansing showers, a natural sauna and relaxing pools.

Remarks:  the tractor ride is not advised for pregnant women nor people who suffer from back problems, while those with heart conditions need to limit their time in the hotsprings.
